Something New! (Slightly Picture Heavy)

First I'd like to say 'welcome' to the new followers! I was surprised when I logged into blogger today.

I decided to try something new because I have so many polishes that I have not swatched yet. Everyday (or every other day), I'm going to randomly pick a polish (possibly two polishes) out of my collection. I have already separated my polishes into different containers. A container for colors that I have not swatched and a container for swatched colors.

You may ask 'how will you pick the random colors'. I'm literally going to close my eyes and pick!!

I would like your feedback. Is this a good idea or should I scrape it and come up with something else?

I picked two polishes today. The first is Milani Hi-Res from the 3-D Holographic collection. This is a purple base with all sorts of micro-glitter/shimmer colors. I find this polish is on the sheer side so I had to use four coats. Even sheer it was still easy to work with. I was pleasantly surprised by this color. In the bottle I didn't think I was going to like it. On my nails though it is awesome.

Next we have Milani Cyberspace, also from the 3-D Holographic collection. Again this was a sheer polish so I had to use four coats. Way better looking on my nails that in the bottle, just like Hi-Res.

Sorry for so many pictures but I felt it was necessary to capture all of the shimmer and different colors. I hope everyone likes the new theme!

Halloween 2011 VS. Halloween 2010

Today I have a little comparison. China Glaze Zombie Zest from Halloween 2010 VS. China Glaze It's Alive from Halloween 2011.

Left: Zombie Zest     Right: It's Alive

As you can see these are very different polishes. Zombie Zest is a yellow/green base with micro brown/mossy green glitter. It's Alive is a murky green base with packed round and hexagonal green glitter. Both are two coats. In my book, It's Alive wins! To me it's so much more fun.
I did wear It's Alive on my nails (it chipped at work so I didn't take a picture). It was a little thick but still manageable. I used two coats. I used a thicker coat of SV so I didn't feel the gritty texture of the glitter.

China Glaze Haunting

I apologize for the absent of posts this week. I worked a lot! I'm a server and worked 3 doubles (10-14 hour shifts) and I was exhausted. I also broke a nail pretty low on my left hand:(

Today I have China Glaze Haunting from the Halloween 2011 collection. I know it's pretty early for anything Halloween...but when a polish collection is available you have to snatch up the colors you want!
Haunting is a black with silver glitter. The formula was a little thick but easy to work with. I used two coats. I love this color and when I look at it I feel like I'm looking at the stars on my nails. (sorry for the chip in the polish...I'm doing this post after work).

Drool.....Orly Fowl Play

Hey everyone!
You know sometimes Ulta surprises me. They had the Birds of a Feather collection by Orly. I've been checking out the e-tailers and had not spotted it, which surprised me. I am so glad I got this color! It was the last bottle on the shelf. Orly Fowl Play is a purple base with pink/gold/blue/red glitter flakies.

Don't be mad at me but...I am tired of all the creams in the collections for fall :\ This was a nice change of pace. I also picked up Sweet Peacock which I am also very excited to swatch for you!

Zoya Jem

Ah, Jem. Zoya you are doing a wonderful job!! This is a vampy, dark purple with shimmer. You can see the bottles change colors between pictures. I think that is because of the shimmer. I think it definitely follows in Yasmeen and Valerie footsteps. I used two coats and topped with China Glaze Fast Forward.

I only ordered four so far from the Zoya's Smoke and Mirrors collection and can't wait to show you the rest!

I'm still fighting the nail fight! The bumps and ridges from having fake nails are finally growing out. We'll see what happens.

Zoya Tallulah

I can't believe that this was sitting with all of my other polishes and I've never used it!! Zoya Tallulah came out with the 2009 Ooh-la-la collection. It is a medium electric blue with shimmer. This color is just awesome. I feel bad for leaving it all alone lol. I used three coats and topped with SV. Formula on this one was perfect.

China Glaze Lighting Bolt Crackle

This is not what I was going to post today. On my nails today is OPI: Brake For Manicures. I feel like I got a bad bottle or something. It does not look anything like the swatches I've seen on other blogs. Hmmm...Maybe I just can't capture it in picture. This is a photo that I found in my files. China Glaze Lighting Bolt. Simple enough. I enjoy these crackles. I have no idea what I used for a base coat.

I Am Such A Nerd!!!!

Hey, remember on my last post when I said I really wanted to find Midnight Sky?! Um, yeah I had already bought it. Hence, why I am a nerd. It also made me realize that my collection is getting so big that I need to make an inventory list! I can't remember what I have and don't have anymore.

Onto the awesome Midnight Sky by Sally Hansen. It is a smoked out metallic grey base with some sparkly silver foil particles. I have similar shades to this but this is a standout for me. I think it's because of the darker base. It was opaque with two coats and I topped with SV. So far with all Sally Hansen Hard as Nails that I own, the formula is perfect.

I decided to amp up Midnight Sky a bit. I layered it with Confetti Ice Ice Baby. Can you see the blue, green, and a little purple? I must say that this was a good idea!

Halloween Came A Little Early

I picked up Pumpkin Spice by Sally Hansen when I saw it on a new display at my local Walgreens. Pumpkin Spice has a black base with small orange glitter. In the bottle this reminded me of China Glaze Ick-A-Body that came out last Halloween. Spice is not as dense as Ick-A-Body.

I actually layered this over Sally Hansen Black Out. I used one coat of that and two coats of Spice. Topped with SV (duh lol). I need to try out some other topcoats.

I've been keeping my eye out for other Sally Hansen displays at more of my local Walgreens. I really want to try and find Midnight Sky.

OPI: A-Taupe The Space Needle

I have been trying so hard to post everyday. I apologize for days that I don't. I was sick the past few days and just didn't have the energy. A lovely sinus infection. I love Iowa and all the allergies it gives me :(

Oh, fall collections. I'm getting excited for quite a few. A-Taupe The Space Needle is from the OPI Touring America Collection. I only ordered six from the collection. Not all of them called my name. I don't have many colors in the brown family as to me this seems to be a lighter brown.
Formula was great. Perfect consistency and I always love OPI's brush. I used two coats and topped with SV. This isn't the best manicure I've ever done. I did it kind of fast.
Until next time,

Slightly Disappointing

I was super excited when I saw that Sephora was carrying Nail Inc. I have seen many swatches from other bloggers and the colors seemed nice. The first one I'm going to show you is Carnaby Street. When I saw the swatch online, I was already in love. As soon as my shipment came I busted it out and was ready to go!

So what was disappointing? The formula mostly. It was streaky and thin in some spots. I had to use four coats to even things out. It did bubble in some place but that could have been user error. In the pictures it is a little brighter than in real life.

Why is it so hard to find the perfect yellow? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Essie Pretty Edgy

Work was so busy this weekend!! I didn't have time to change my polish at all. As soon as Sunday night rolled around, I threw on Essie's Pretty Edgy. This is such a great vivid green. It's one of those colors that I could just stare at for hours! The formula was a little watery but easy to work with. I had to use three coats which I didn't mind. I topped with SV.

Pretty Edgy came out in Essie's summer collection last year. I don't know why I don't grab this more often! If you like green then you should definitely check this out!!

China Glaze Midnight Magic

Midnight Magic is a dark, dark purple/burgundy base with gold shimmer. This is another polish from China Glaze Metro Collection. It went on very nice. This is three coats topped with SV

These are not the best pictures I've ever taken. I was interrupted by my dog barking at something when we were outside. I went over and found this little guy all by himself.

It's a little baby bunny! I've been taking care of it while I find a place to take him in (wildlife refuge place). He fits in the palm of my hand, he is so small!

China Glaze CG In The City and Skyscraper

Below we have the glitters from the China Glaze Metro Collection. First is CG In The City. It is a fine glitter with from what I see, purple, gold, silver and some bronze. I had to use three coats and topped with SV.

Skyscraper. This is a blue base with fine silver glitter. This is also three coats topped with SV.

Between the two glitters I prefer Skyscraper. It just pops more to me. I can see myself pulling for this one frequently. I would like to try CG In The City for layering.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Teeny Greeny Bikini

So I'm going to start by saying that this is not a favorite of mine. I bought it a couple days ago at my local Walgreens and thought it looked cool in the bottle. Now remember this is my opinion and I know a ton of other people will like this color. It was very sheer. This is four coats topped with SV. It can be described as a minty green with some silver glass flecks. To me its a bit too frosty. I wanted to take it off as soon as I put it on (again sorry folks). It was a little shady today in my area so some pictures have some shadow.

I think if it was a creme finish I would have liked it more. I will say it did dry fast. Since this is not a fav of mine I'm going to do a give-a-way because I know some people are having a hard time finding it. First one to comment saying they would like this color will win. Please include e-mails so I can contact you to let you know you won!
P.S. This is my first give-a-way so good luck everyone.
Until next time,
