Whoops!

Why whoops, well I thought I had this post set to be published a few days ago...uh no. But here it is for you now. I hope you guys are not getting sick of Pretty and Polished. Chels has been chugging out some awesome polishes! Today I have Mannequin Hands and Everybody Loves Penguin.
Your lovely bottle shots
Lets get the one that I wasn't crazy about out of the way first. Mannequin Hands is a flesh tone base with pastel pink glitter. Now all of the technical aspects were great: easy application (I only needed two coats), dried quickly, lasted three days without chipping. I just personally did not like the color against my skin tone. It gave me what I like to call lobster hands. I'm not a huge fan of pink polish so this was stepping outside the box.

Next up is Everybody Loves Penguin. It is a white base (but not bright white) with medium hex yellow glitter and black hex glitter in a variety of sizes. I really liked this one. The concept is so simple but I don't have one like this in my collection. Surprisingly I only need to use two coats. The yellow glitter came out easily but I had to work hard to get out some of the black glitter. And I went digging for treasure looking for that big black hex on my pinkie!!

It's just so cute!!

Lazy Day Manicure

Ok, I'm thinking of making this lazy day manicure into a weekly segment! Each week I'll take the manicure from the day before and try to 're-use' it. So yesterday I did a review for Lacquer Lust Snow Flurries. I spiced it up today with a little glitter from Lush Lacquer. I love my polishes from Lush Lacquer!!

First up is Winter Blues. This is a white and blue glitter with iridescent glitter scattered throughout. I think this is a classic Christmas combo. I used two coats because I wanted more coverage.

Next is Ho-Ho-Holidays. Another classic combo featuring different sized red, white and green glitter. I think next time I might layer this over a silver so the white can pop out better.

Lush Lacquer polishes are like glitter bombs waiting to explode. The bottles pack the heat....I mean glitter:) They are not hard to work with but I always try and take my time so the glitter is perfectly placed.
Hope you guys have wonderful Christmas!!

Until next time,
Don't spill your polish:)

First Experience: Lacquer Lust

I have an awesome new polish brand (well new to me) to share with you guys today! Lacquer Lust...I came across this brand which searching on Etsy (which I can do for hours by the way). Specifically, I came across this little gem below...Snow Flurries. When I saw a swatch I seriously drooled a little. Seriously my husband saw it! Of course I hesitated and didn't order it right away. Then I noticed that the shop was now over on Big Cartel. Oh I hesitated again and it sold out. So I stalked the website and checked once a day....sad? Mmm no! Finally, some bottles were in stock! And the polish lived happily ever after....on my nails:)

This just isn't your normal white base with blue glitter. This is special. It has light blue holo glitter, blue flakies and iridescent glitter. I think this gives the base a very pretty blue tint. It was also a dream to apply. I only needed two coats to reach opacity. It dried in a decent time (I'm impatient so when a polish takes longer than 5 seconds to dry I feel like I'm losing my mind). I topped it with my trusty Sally Hansen Insta-Dry.

If you want Snow Flurries you can check out the store here. I'm hoping after Christmas I can splurge and buy the #hashtag Holo set because it looks sweet!

Snowflake Manicure

Here's my sad attempt at nail art. I was trying to make off-centered snowflakes. A lot of my family thought it was people standing in a circle holding hands lol. For the base I used one coat of Ninja Polish Sapphire Dreams. For my middle and pinkie finger I used one coat of Lynnderella Ice the Snowcake. For the 'snowflakes' I used a small dotting tool to make the lines and Sinful Color Snow Me White (it's the only white I have). I think it turned out alright:) Not too shabby for a novice.

A Blinding Polish and Nail Water Decals

I have an amazing polish to show off today. China Glaze Glistening Snow from the 2012 Holiday collection. This polish blinded me! It has so much spakly goodness with very fine silver holo glitter. I used three coats because there can be some bald spots on the first coat.
I also experimented with some water decals from RLR Creations which you can check out at http://www.etsy.com/shop/RLRCreationsNailArt. These were incredibly easy to use. All you have to do is cut out the picture  you want and then set it in water for 10-15 seconds. It slides off easily and then you place it on your nail. Now I got my nail slightly wet. That way I could slide the image around until I had it placed in the right spot. I let it dry and then I used my usual top coat, Sally Hansen Insta-Dry. The image lasted two days (well until I changed my polish, sorry no after picture). The image is slightly hard to see but I think this is due to the polish being so bright.
Now for someone who cannot stamp to save my life these nail decals are a great way to add some fun to my nails! I recommend!! RLR has a great selection.

Until next time,

PS. I'm thinking I abuse exclamation points!!!! Hehe
